Brenda Gene [Navajo] :: Youth Fitness Leader Instructor

Brenda Gene’s background as a school health educator has earned her recognition from the Arizona Department of Education and a STAR award from the Navajo Nation Health Promotion. “I’m a stern advocate for indigenizing curricula,” she says. Brenda has a BS from Northern Arizona University in Physical Education and School Health.

Paul Edward Tso III [Navajo] :: Assistant Instructor

The first Native to win over 100 high school wrestling matches, Paul Tso has been active in fitness for many years. He holds certifications from several organizations — the Cooper Institute, the American Council on Exercise, and the National Exercise Trainers Association — where he studied group exercise, personal training, kickboxing, and Pilates.

Kylene Selestewa [San Felipe Pueblo] :: Youth Instructor

The winner of a bronze medal for Tae Kwon Do in the 2006 Native American Indigenous Games, Kylene Selestewa inspires people to live active, healthy lifestyles through instructional fitness programs. She has an Associates Degree in Medical Specialties and continues to study exercise science, business, and accounting.

Jaynel Mann Graymountain [Navajo] :: Assistant Instructor

Certified aerobics instructor Jaynel Graymountain started the fitness program for the Winslow Indian Health Care Center. She earned BS and MS degrees in Health Promotion from Northern Arizona University. A group fitness enthusiast, Jaynel loves teaching because she helps prolong people’s lives with exercise.
